Have you ever said, "I'd like to be a game warden or perhaps a fisheries or wildlife biologist"?  Well, our youth camp gives you a chance. 

The camp is designed to give youth an increased awareness of protecting and managing Oklahoma's wildlife resources.  It also provides an excellent opportunity for youth to explore possible future careers in wildlife management.

In order to give participants a better understanding of wildlife and fisheries management and law enforcement, the entire camp is conducted by game wardens, wildlife and fisheries professionals and dedicated hunters and anglers.

The most important goal of the camp is to have fun. The camp is entirely free of charge!

The camp is a joint effort by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation and numerous contributors.

Courses planned for the week include:

• Turkey hunting, management & enforcement

• Rifle/Shotgun Training

• Ropes and Rappelling 

• Wildlife Identification

• Waterfowl hunting, management and enforcement

• Fishing

• Swimming

• Wildlife Law Enforcement

• Self Defense

• Muzzleloading

• Fisheries Management

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

HOW TO APPLY?

• Be 14-16 years of age (applicants must turn 14 prior to June 15, 2009).
• Write an essay (about 75 words) describing why they wish to attend the camp, why they should be selected and what they expect to learn.
• provide one letter of recommendation (by someone other than a family member).
• provide a photograph of a recent outdoor-related event of activity.
• Be ready to have a fun week.
