9: Tulsa Bird Dog Association to Host Youth Outdoor Expo

Tulsa, Okla. – The Tulsa Bird Dog Association is once again hosting the Youth Outdoor Expo, August 9 from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Tulsa Gun Club, 8888 Mohawk Blvd. This is a hands-on opportunity for outdoors education in a fun and safe environment.

Participants will learn to shoot rim-fire rifles, shotguns, archery and BB guns from Oklahoma game wardens and other local outdoor clubs as well as learning the basics of fishing. New additions to the expo include ATV safety education, indigenous snake education, and raptor and bee-keeper demos. The Expo is free and geared toward youth, but adults wanting to learn more about outdoor sportsmanship are welcome to attend.

“We are excited to bring outdoors education to Tulsa’s youth,” said Shane Bevel, founder of the Youth Outdoor Expo. “The event is a great education opportunity and offers fun for the entire family!” The Tulsa Bird Dog Association is a non-profit dedicated to outdoors education and promoting upland hunting in Northeast Oklahoma. In addition to the Tulsa Bird Dog Association, the Tulsa Archery Association, the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, and Tulsa Fly Fishers will be in attendance with outdoors education booths. A free lunch will be provided for all participants.

22: Eastern Oklahoma County (EOC) Ducks Unlimited Chapter Hosts Fundraising Banquet

The Eastern Oklahoma County (EOC) Chapter of Ducks Unlimited is holding its annual fundraising event on Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Midwest City Community Center, 200 N. Midwest Blvd, Midwest City, Oklahoma 73170Doors open at 6:00 pm.    

Ducks Unlimited is the world’s largest non-profit conservation organization dedicated to conserving, restoring and managing wetlands and associated habitats for North America’s waterfowl.  These habitats also benefit other wildlife and people.  Ducks Unlimited has conserved over 13 million acres of habitat in North America, including over 37,000 acres in Oklahoma. 

Each year, Oklahoma Chapters of Ducks Unlimited hold a grassroots fundraising event to support Ducks Unlimited’ s conservation work.  Ducks Unlimited commits a minimum of 80 cents of every dollar to conservation programs and uses partnerships ensure conservation is achieved as effectively and efficiently as possible. 

The cost for the fundraising event is $35 single (1), $50 couple (2), $15 Military w/ ID (1), $265 Party Table (8), and $100 Military Table (8) and includes dinner and a 1-year membership to Ducks Unlimited. There will be raffles for various hunting products and equipment, as well as a silent and live auction.  There will be over four (4) hunts up for grabs and lots of guns!

23: Central Oklahoma Quail Forever 89ers Chapter Symposium and 9th Annual Fundraising Banquet

The daylong symposium will begin with registration at 9:30 a.m. and close at 2:30 p.m. It will be followed at 5:30 p.m. by the organization's ninth annual fundraising banquet. All events will take place at the Crowne Plaza hotel, near Northwest Expressway at May Avenue in Oklahoma City.
