11: Quail Field Day, Cross Timbers Wildlife Management Area headquarters

Representatives from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, Noble Foundation, Quail Forever and Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service will give presentations relating to quail habitat management.  Topics will include use of prescribed grazing on quail habitat, prescribed fire relating to quail habitat management, native grass and woody re-establishment in monocultures of Bermuda grass pastures, managing for pollinator habitat, prescribed fire insurance for landowners, chemical treatments on forested areas and how they are a positive influence on quail habitat, and details about many other quail habitat management practices.

11: Tulsa Trout Unlimited: Start of Summer and Group Fishing Day

Our final event of the year will be the annual start of summer picnic and group fishing day. Please join us in Broken Arrow on Thursday, June 11 at 6PM.

The park is just east of the Creek Turnpike at 101st Street. Latitude 36° 1'9.83"N, Longitude 95°44'25.53"W. We'll have the Trout Unlimited curb signs posted to help you locate the group.

Tulsa Fly Fishers will provide burgers and hot dogs. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share with the group, a chair and your fishing pole!

12: Quail Field Day, Spavinaw Wildlife Management Area headquarters

Representatives from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, Quail Forever and OSU Extension will give presentations on managing quail in northeastern Oklahoma. Topics will include managing timber for quail habitat, application of prescribed fire and herbicide to improve quail habitat, establishment and maintenance of wildlife corridors, and many other quail management practices.
