April 24 & 25: Bird and Crystal Digging Festival, Cherokee  

April 24: Activities at Byron Hatchery WWA:

  • 8 am – 3 pm – Bluebird House Make-n-Take (1 per family)
    Children’s Hands-on Bird Beak Exhibit

  • 6 pm – 7pm – Bats! Bats! Bats! Program
    Presented by Tandy Keenan, Naturalist at Alabaster, Caverns State Park

  •  7:15 pm – 9:30 pm – The Prairie at Night Nature Hike – dress warmly and wear dark colors

 

June 26: North American Butterfly Association Butterfly Count
                 9 am – 3 pm  Bring a sack lunch, hat, insect repellant & sunscreen

 

August 21: Lions, Bobcats, and Bears!  Oh My!
         Russell Perry, Wildlife Technician at Ft. Supply & Cooper WMAs will present an interactive program

Byron Hatchery is located north of Great Salt Plains Refuge. From the junction of Highways 38 and 11, go north two miles and turn west at the first intersection.
