Project WILD
What is Project WILD?
Project WILD provides educators with
the tools, training and resources
needed to engage students in active,
hands-on learning about wildlife and
the environment. The program focuses
on developing students' critical
thinking, problem-solving and
decision-making skills through the
use of cross-curricular lessons that
are designed to address diverse
teaching and learning styles. A
balanced approach to key
environmental issues teaches
students how to think, not what to
think about wildlife and the
environment.
The activity guides are available
only by participating in
interactive, hands-on, fun
workshops. Workshop participants
gain valuable experience in using
the guides, selecting and conducting
activities to meet curriculum
requirements and improve their
content knowledge.
Since 1984, over 22,000 Oklahoma
educators have attended an Oklahoma
Project WILD workshop and been
certified in Project WILD, Flying
WILD or Science and Civics. Oklahoma
Project WILD is a program of the
University of Central Oklahoma and
is funded in part by the Oklahoma
Department of Wildlife Conservation.
