The Human Resources section of the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation maintains records and coordinates activities pertaining to employee training, recruitment and benefits. It also coordinates personnel activities with overall agency policies. The section recruits new employees, keeps abreast of openings in the Department and informs the public of job availability. Human Resource employees then coordinate the new employees orientation process. It also monitors additions or amendments to laws and regulations impacting the human resource arena. Changes in laws affecting employee leave, affirmative action and benefits result in concurrent changes in personnel policies. Section personnel maintain and coordinate both personnel and department policies within the framework of the laws and regulations. The Human Resources staff organizes agency training programs, including the Reserve Officer Academy. All supervisors must attend 12 hours of supervisory training every year. Human Resources administers payroll, benefits and the retirement program. Section staff explain the different benefit options to employees each year. They then enroll each employee in the options they choose. Payroll for both full and part time employees is processed monthly. Any longevity checks due during the month are processed at the same time. When employees retire or separate from the Department, the Human Resources section advises them of their options and processes the required paperwork. |
