I want to be a game warden how do I do that?
The first step in becoming a Game Warden is to take the Department's standardized exam.
To qualify to take this exam you must be within 6 months of obtaining a Bachelor's Degree with at least 16 credit hours in a wildlife related field. Preference is given for a degree in a wildlife related field. (It is preferred that you meet the education requirement before taking this exam.)
You must be 21 years of age and have met the required education requirement before you can be employed as a Game Warden.
When is the standardized employment exam given and how often can I take it?
The exam is held twice a year--the last Friday in March and September. You may take the exam once in a twelve month period. The test is held at the Tom Steed Development Center Auditorium at Rose State College in Midwest City, OK. The Center is located on the northwest corner of I-40 and Hudiburg Rd. You must bring a photo ID with you. NO ONE is admitted to the test after 10 a.m.
The top 25-30 scoring applications will be invited to submit an employment application. When openings occur, we will pull names for interviews from these applicaitons.
The Department of Wildlife does not have Park Rangers. You will need to contact the Office of Personnel Management ,405/521-2171, or the Parks Division office in Oklahoma City.

Positions that do not require the standardized test may be advertised through the local employment offices throughout the state, advertised in the Sunday newspaper, and are posted on our web site. When we have an opening for a position that requires testing, the applicants are selected from the test register.
