Over the years, the Game Harvest Survey has featured both general and specific questions about hunters' needs for information from the Department of Wildlife.  Click on each graph to see the data.

 

 

Getting General Information About Hunting

License holders who hunted during 2002 were asked about the sources of information they use to learn about hunting.

 

 

Where hunters get information about hunting (2002-season hunters)

The Hunting Guide/Regulations booklet was the most commonly consulted source of information about Oklahoma hunting season dates and bag limits. 

 

 

 

Internet Access (2002-season hunters)

Most hunters had access to the internet.

 

Hunter Education Classes

2002-season hunters were asked about Hunter Education classes for their families or friends.

 

Where hunters look for information on Hunters Education classes (2002-season hunters)

Hunters would turn to a Wildlife Department employee, the Hunting Guide/Regulations, the newspaper or the internet for information about Hunter Education class schedules. 

 

 

Preferred month for Hunters Education classes (2002-season hunters)

Most hunters would prefer a Hunter Education class to be offered between June 1 and September 30.

 

 

 

 

Digital WMA Atlas

License holders who were active hunters were asked about the Department of Wildlife's new online, interactive WMA maps, during both the 2003-season and 2004-season surveys.  If you haven't seen the Digital WMA Atlas yourself, check it out

Hunters who did use the Digital WMA Atlas found it fairly easy to use.

Hunters liked the idea of accessing WMA maps online.  Some hunters were not interested in WMA maps at all.
