2: The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation Regular Commission Meeting.  Meetings are held monthly at the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation Building (auditorium), 1801 N. Lincoln, Oklahoma City, OK at 9:00 am

5 & 16: Wildlife Tour at the the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge. The public will have an opportunity to view wildlife on a bus tour of Pinchot Loop in the Special Use Area. A unique feature of this season is the young buffalo and longhorn calves.  Reservations for the programs are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis by telephoning the Visitor Center weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.. All tours will last approximately three hours. Due to the length of the program, children must be at least eight (8) years of age to participate. For reservations call which are required and may be made by telephoning the Visitor Center at (580) 429-3222. A $5.00 reservation fee per participant is collected prior to the program.

7: Pastor Appreciation Tournament to be held on Ponca Lake from 7:00 am to Noon.   This event is open to any pastoral staff - paid or volunteer.  The pastor's will be paired with a boater.  There is no cost to the pastor and they don't even need a fishing license because it is the weekend of "free fishing" in the State of Oklahoma.  Gift certificates will be awarded as prizes for all places and also for big bass.  There will be a special guest speaker and lunch will be served.  If you are interested in fishing or need additional information, please contact David Rush with Northern Oklahoma (FOCAS) Fellowship of Christian Anglers Society at (580) 762-8949.

8-14:  Oklahoma FreeWheel 2008 – 30th Anniversary Bicycle Tour. Join us for Oklahoma FreeWheel – a weeklong recreational bicycle tour that starts in Marietta, Oklahoma – just north of the Texas border - and finishes in Caldwell, Kansas. Cyclists will camp overnight in the host communities of Sulphur, Seminole, Henryetta, Drumright, Perry and Tonkawa.

15: Woodward Archers 3-D Shoot. 19: Deep Water Structure Fishing workshop at the Broken Arrow Bass Pro Shop. Chris Torkelson, RedHead Pro-Staff will discuss how to locate structure in deep water and what baits to use to catch them. Chris will also tell what time of year to start looking for the deep bite. Tank demo begins at 7:00 p.m.

21: The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife will be conducting the eighth annual Kid’s Camp at the Cherokee Wildlife Management Area. The one-day camp runs from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and is for youth 15 and under. There is no charge or pre-registration required. Scheduled events include archery, BB gun, paint ball, .22 rife, muzzle-loading firearms, and shotgun ranges with instructors. In addition, participants can fish in a stocked pond, visit reptile, mountain men, knife making, trapping, turkey calling, and wildlife exhibits. Food and drinks as well as the use of fishing tackle, ammo, and firearms will be provided free of charge to all who attend. The WMA is approximately 10 miles east of Fort Gibson, Ok on highway 62, and then 2 miles south at the Midway Conoco to the Zeb Entrance of the wildlife area.
