The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife receives no funding from general revenue taxes.  Our agency is supported solely through license sales and Sport Fish Restoration Funds.  Therefore, providing for anglers is our foremost responsibility.  Besides managing habitat and organisms, the streams program reaches out to constituents through fishing clinics, public meetings, press releases, presentations, personal contact with anglers, surveys, brochures and a variety of other public outreach events.  Developing stream advocacy is an important goal of the streams program.  To find out what a stream advocate is and to become one click here.
