FISHERIES MANAGEMENT FIELD TRIP - GUTHRIE CITY LAKE
Looking for an exciting time out on the lake? This will be the event! The Fisheries Management Field Trip includes a pontoon boat ride on Guthrie City Lake to see first hand how Fisheries Biologists from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife collect population data to help them create and sustain the great fisheries located all over Oklahoma.
You will have the opportunity to observe biologists electrofishing (shocking) to collect bass and catfish and trap netting to collect crappie, saugeye and other game fish! Later, you will have the opportunity to learn more about how biologists age fish and how the fish population data are used in management.
Session time are being planned and registration will begin September 4. There will be a limited number of spaces available for each session. PREREGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Participation will be filled on a first come, first served basis, so sign up starting September 4 to assure you and your family a spot! To register call (405) 521-3721.
Registration will not be taken before September 4.
Participants are encouraged to bring sun screen, bug spray and appropriate clothing for outdoor conditions. All participants will be required to wear life jackets while on the pontoon boat. If you have your own life jacket you are encouraged to bring it to the field trip. Cancellation of this event is possible due to weather and safety conditions immediately prior to the session.
