Description:

Celebrate the amazing southward migration of the Monarch butterfly through southwest Oklahoma by watching Monarchs go to roost in the evenings and tagging Monarchs in the mornings at Hackberry Flat Wildlife Management Area. Evening programs are offered on September 30, October 1& 2 and 5th from 6:30 pm - 8 pm. Please note: children must be 8 years old to participate in the evening programs.

Morning programs are offered on September 30, October 1 & 2, and 6th. All activities begin at the Hackberry Flat Center. A daily update on the status of the migration through Hackberry Flat will be posted on the Friends of Hackberry Flat Facebook page. There is no fee and no reservations are required but please check the Facebook page BEFORE attending your activity of choice.

Description:

Feral hogs cause significant ecological damages that hinder production agriculture and cause economic burdens to landowners and recreationists. This technical training will provide an opportunity for landowners and hunters to see the tools they can use to manage these devastating pests. We will teach best management practices and demonstrate conventional, innovative and integrated strategies to control feral hogs. Participants can expect hands-on training, discussion on the future of hog control, and opportunities to share successes and failures with fellow trappers and consultants.

  • Drop-nets.
  • Cellular triggers.
  • Thermal scopes.

Description:

The Deep Fork National Wildlife Refuge will be hosting its first ever Blue Goose Day at the Montezuma Creek Fishing Area in Okmulgee. The event is kid friendly. Come try your hand at fishing or shot at targets on the 3-D archery range. Create animal tracks and build wood duck boxes. All materials are provided, including fishing poles and bait and archery equipment. The event is from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm. Pre-registration is required in order to receive a t-shirt, water bottle, and lunch.
