Southeast Region Turkey Seasons Kick Off Saturday
The two-day youth spring turkey hunting season will be Saturday and Sunday, April 18-19, 2015, in the Southeast Region of the state. The regular spring turkey season will open Monday, April 20, and continue through May 6 in that region.
The Southeast Region includes the counties of Atoka, Choctaw, Coal, Latimer, Le Flore, McCurtain, Pittsburg and Pushmataha.
Hunters are reminded that there is a one tom turkey season limit for all eight Southeast Region counties combined.
Meanwhile, spring turkey season continues to be open in the remainder of the state. The season bag limit is three tom turkeys. Hunters are allowed two toms in 21 counties, and only one tom in the remaining 48 counties.     Turkey hunters must possess a hunting license and a turkey license for each bird to be hunted, unless otherwise exempt.
Harvested turkeys must be field tagged, and this year, all harvested turkeys are required to be reported within 24 hours of leaving the hunt area using the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation's online E-Check system (or to an authorized Department employee, when available). Hunters without website access are urged to contact a family member or friend who can complete the E-Check requirements for them. In addition, website access can be found at most libraries and at many local merchants.
For complete details about spring turkey hunting regulations, including seasons and limits on public lands, legal  means of taking, shooting hours and tom turkey identification, refer to the "Oklahoma Hunting" regulations guide.
