About the Department

Temporary blinds

Reservoirs allowing temporary blinds only include: Altus-Lugert, Arbuckle, Birch, Broken Bow, Chouteau (L&D 17), Copan, Fort Cobb, Heyburn, Hugo, Hulah, Kaw, Keystone, Mountain Park, Newt Graham (L&D 18), Oologah, Optima, Pine Creek, Robert S. Kerr (L&D 15), Skiatook, Tenkiller, Texoma and Wister.

No permit is required for temporary blinds.

All blinds must be a minimum of 250 yards apart.

Blinds must be removed at the end of each hunt.

Permanent or temporary blinds

Reservoirs allowing permanent or temporary blinds include: Canton, Eufaula, Fort Gibson, Fort Supply, Waurika, W. D. Mayo (L&D 14) and Webbers Falls (L&D 16). Hunters wishing to construct permanent blinds must first obtain a permit from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.

* Permanent blind permits will be issued by a public drawing held on National Hunting and Fishing Day (4th Saturday in September) for Eufaula, Fort Gibson, Waurika, W.D. Mayo (L & D 14), and Webbers Falls (L & D 16). Locations and times for these drawings will be announced annually.

* Permanent blind permits will be issued on a first come first served basis on National Hunting and Fishing day (4th Saturday in September) for Canton and Fort Supply. Locations and times for issuing these permits will be announced annually.

Regulations

Applicants for permanent blind permits must be at least 16 years of age and possess all valid hunting licenses, signed stamps and permits as required for hunting waterfowl during the waterfowl season, unless exempt.

Hunters must appear in person at the drawings to obtain a permit.

Hunters are limited to one (1) blind per person.

Blinds must be constructed within 25 yards of the designated location.

All blinds, temporary or permanent, must be a minimum of 250 yards apart.

The blind’s permit number must be conspicuously displayed in the blind throughout the waterfowl seasons.

Blinds must not be locked.

The blind’s permit holder will have priority use on the blind until 7:30 a.m., daily. After 7:30 a.m., unoccupied blinds will be available to other hunters on a first come first served basis.

Blinds must be constructed as of two weeks prior to the opening day of the regular waterfowl season, otherwise the blind may be re-issued on a first come first served basis. Contact the area biologist for possible re-issuance of blind locations.

All blinds must be removed within 14 days after the close of the waterfowl seasons. Blinds remaining after this date become the property of the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.

Failure to comply with regulations may result in forfeiture of right to obtain a permit for constructing blinds during the forthcoming season.
