ODWC EMPLOYMENT Requirements and Selection Procedure

The first step in
employment for the following positions is to take the Department’s
Standardized Employment Exams. Two different exams are offered: Exam One - is for Biologist, Warden, and Assistant Hatchery Manager positions. Exam Two - is for Fisheries and Wildlife Technician positions. Applicants must meet the minimum education and experience requirements to take the exams. You can take both exams on the same day if you meet the qualifications. Letters will be sent to the applicants notifying them of their score. The top scoring candidates will be asked to submit an application for employment. A copy of your college transcript(s) must be submitted with your application if the position requires college course work. To be considered for one of these positions you must take these
exams. Taking these exams does not An hour is given to take each 100 question exam. Applicants may take the exams only once in a 12-month period. Test scores are valid for 12 months. When, and where are the exams given?

Selection Procedure When an opening occurs, applicants will be selected for interviews beginning with the highest test score and continuing toward each lower score. Up to 5 applicants per vacancy will be selected for interviews. Selection for employment will be made on the basis of the combined
results of tests, interview and Physical: Employment is contingent upon successful completion
of a physical examination, a urinalysis to Background Investigation: A through background investigation will be conducted by the Department on each selected applicants. The investigation will include contacting references such as previous employers and others who have significant dealing with the candidate. Material Covered Individuals planning to take the examination(s) should have a knowledge of the following subjects: The following list of reference is suggested study material that can be found at most public libraries and universities. The Department does not provide study material. Obtaining this information is the responsibility of the applicant.
