LAKE ETLING

  NOTICE TO ANGLERS: After going dry in 2005, Lake Etling received some water in late 2006.  A limited winter time trout season did occur.  The lake has been restocked with bluegill and channel catfish.  Further stockings of other species are planned for 2007 if water levels hold.  Angling opportunities for 2007 will be limited.

Location
    Lake Etling is located in Black Mesa State Park, Cimarron County, 38 miles northwest of Boise City.  Vegetation around the lake is pinon-juniper-mesa type. (S5&6,T4N,R2E).

Recreational Facilities
     The lake has two boat ramps, good picnic and camping facilities and state park cabins.  A winter trout fishery along with good populations of largemouth bass, flathead catfish, walleye and smallmouth bass are present.

Lake History
     Lake Etling was constructed by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation in 1958.
