Fishing Reports

We know that fishing in Oklahoma can be good nearly all year round but the peak time for most species and anglers is March to June, which is when we require reports to be submitted. If there is a particular lake you would like to know about during the non-required report time you can contact the county game warden or a local bait shop to check on the lake conditions before heading out.

Grand Lake Report

Aug 7. Elevation is Normal (stable), water temperature 86°F and stained. (USACE Lake Level)

Bass, Largemouth Fair on crankbaits, plastic baits around brush structure, docks, rocks, shorelines.

Catfish, Blue Fair on chicken liver, cut bait around below the dam, docks, shorelines.

Bass, White Good on Alabama rigs, jigs around below the dam, main lake, points.

Konawa Report

Aug 7. Elevation is Normal (stable), water temperature 94°F and clear.

Bass, Largemouth Fair on crankbaits, plastic baits around points, river channel, weed beds.

Bass, Striped Hybrid, Bass, White Fair on Alabama rigs, crankbaits, live shad around coves, inlet, river channel.

Catfish, Channel Good on chicken liver, cut bait, shad around inlet, riprap, weed beds.

Texoma Report

Aug 7. Elevation is 2. ft. below normal (falling), water temperature 89°F and clear. (USACE Lake Level)

Bass, Striped Good on Alabama rig, live bait, live shad, plastic baits around channels, main lake, points.

Catfish, Blue, Catfish, Channel, Catfish, Flathead Fair on cut bait, dough bait, hot dogs, live bait, live shad, punch bait, shad, stinkbait, sunfish around below the dam, channels, coves, creek channels, docks, points, river mouth.

Crappie, Black, Crappie, White Fair on hair jigs, jigs, minnows, nymphs around brush structure, coves, docks, points, rocks, standing timber.

Comments: Fishing this week has been good. Striper continue to feed very well on live shad. They are being caught near washita point, train bridge and the Roosevelt bridge. The bite has been early, once it gets hot it gets pretty slow. Blue cats are biting on cut bait pretty well near channels. Crappie are biting on hair jigs in 10-24ft of water.

Birch Reservoir Report

Bass, Striped Hybrid, Bass, White Fair on Alabama rigs, crankbaits, in-line spinnerbaits, jerk baits, lipless baits, live bait, live shad, minnows, sassy shad, small lures, topwater lures around creek channels, main lake, points, riprap, river channel, other.
