| A) Selected Wichita Mountains NWR elk applicants must attend a pre-hunt briefing at 10:00 a.m. on the day preceding their hunt at the Visitor Center. Minimum age requirement is 18 years of age. Special Note: Applicants should be prepared for extremely rough terrain and expect rigorous exercise during hunts. Applicants are strongly encouraged to bring a helper to assist with removal of carcass from hunt area to hunter check station. Firearm requirements are centerfire only rifles of .270 caliber or larger. All handguns are prohibited. There is a five (5) shells per day limit. | |||
