Creatures (Soft Plastic)

Creatures have become increasingly popular in the bass fishing world with different versions and variations flooding the market each year.

While these soft plastics can be fished by themselves with a jig-head or hook and weight, they are most commonly used as trailers in conjunction with skirted jigs and bladed jigs.

The most commonly used creatures are crawfish, lizards, baby brush hogs and frogs.

When paired with a skirted jig, choose a creature with a color scheme that accents the jig skirt or is similar in color.

In clear water streams, a soft plastic crawfish paired with a 1/8th to 1/4th ounce jig-head can be effective when cast downstream into a pool and jigged or dragged along the bottom.

Baby brush hogs and lizards in natural colors can be paired with an offset hook and a bullet weight (Texas rig) and either steadily retrieved or bounced along the bottom to effectively target late-spring and early-summertime farm pond bass.
