Special Family Hunts

What is it?

For many, hunting is about more than just the harvest. It is also about the bonds we build through shared outdoor experiences. The Department’s Special Family Hunts are crafted specifically to foster those connections on select Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs).

These hunts provide a dedicated time and space for families to sharpen their skills and grow their confidence as hunters together. The WMAs are closed so families can learn how to hunt and navigate public lands without the pressure of crowds or competition. And, it is a chance to step away from the noise of daily life and reconnect with your loved ones in Oklahoma's outdoors.

Whether you're passing down traditions or starting your own, these hunts offer a quiet, focused setting to build skills, put meat in the freezer or simply enjoy nature alongside the people who matter most.

These are not guided hunts.
