The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Department utilizes agriculture/grazing/hay/timber leases as a management tool to benefit wildlife by providing supplemental food and cover, creating edge, maintaining openings, and generating funds for other management area activities.
Leases range from 1-6 years depending on the type of lease and management practice it supports. Invitations to bid are posted here and published in the local newspaper. The terms are defined in the lease. It is a sealed bid process for all leases. An agricultural bid must be accompanied by 25% of the bid as earnest money. A grazing bid must be accompanied by 10% of the bid as earnest money. Further information and details on specific lease provisions can be directed to the area biologist on the lease.
