Kiamichi River

Attention - New rules apply to non-residents:

  • Public Area Check-In: Non-residents must check in and out when accessing certain Oklahoma public hunting and fishing areas. There is no additional cost or limit on the number of check-ins.
  • Deer Licenses: A 2 day waiting period applies to nonresident deer licenses purchased after the deer season has started. Licenses must be purchased at least 48 hours before hunting.

The Kiamichi River flows out of Hugo Dam about 25 miles southeast until its confluence with the Red River. There are good opportunities to catch Blue, Channel, and Flathead Catfish along with species moving up from the Red River such as Paddlefish and Alligator Gar.

Methods:

Trotlines, throwlines, snagging, bowfishing, and noodling prohibited from Hugo Dam downstream to first railroad bridge. (Also see “Tailwaters” regulations; and shad restrictions on Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS)).

Approximately 6 miles east of Hugo Oklahoma.
